The Government of Saskatchewan has approved SaskEnergy’s application to increase its commodity rate — the first increase in seven years after four consecutive decreases. The new rate will be the lowest in Canada. Effective November 1, 2021, SaskEnergy’s commodity rate changes from $2.575/Gigajoule (GJ) to $3.20/GJ. SaskEnergy has received the initial results from its investigation into the January 10 th, 2018 pipeline rupture in the Melfort area. SaskEnergy’s engineering specialists have determined that there was previously unreported damage to this natural gas transmission pipeline, which occurred within the past three years.
