Exchanging the Gas Meter
SaskEnergy must remove and replace the natural gas meter from time to time.
We may need to exchange the meter for many reasons:
- Testing or replacement to ensure compliance and accuracy under Measurement Canada regulations
- Routine maintenance
- Damage to the meter
- Upgrading to a new model
- Investigating a complaint about measurement accuracy
Booking an Appointment
If you have received a letter, tag or phone call indicating we must replace the meter, contact us to book an appointment. We’ll schedule a time that is convenient for you and there will be no charge to complete the work.
What to Expect
A qualified field representative will be at your property for 20 to 30 minutes. They will:
- Take a final meter read
- Turn off the natural gas
- Remove the old meter and install the new meter
- Turn the natural gas back on
- Perform a safety check to make sure there are no gas leaks
- Take a new meter read
- Relight your natural gas appliances
